I have 2 versions of this package on seperate PCs, AVS6.4 on one PC running Vista and the latestest AVS 7 on a PC running Windows 7. Neither package now works. I can download an FLV file from YouTube (Using IDM) drag and drop into AVS which then converts into any one of the formats listed but the resultant files cannot be opened and appear to be unsupported by my media player.I cannot drag and drop them into Sony Vegas Pro 9 as they are not recognised

I bought the AVS 6.4 a while back. It packed up soon afterwards. I realise now that I should have got my money back but I did not do anything about it and it got left. When I try and use it now I get the error message "Cannot create file. Probably your output file has read only attribute or an invalid file name" This cannot be true because I have tried converting my own YouTube uploads it happens on every downloaded file I try to convert.

A similar problem has occurred with my AVS7. I bought it a few days ago and it appeared to work fine but now it does not work properly at all. When I convert downloads they disappear into the AVS Output Video File and cannot be opened.I have contacted support but they are slow (not yet received solution) Sadly i feel that I must at some stage consider asking for my money back and purchase another package available on Amazon. In the mean time has anyone any ideas please?

Hello,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. Please note that we respond to support requests within 48 hours as it is stated on support page.

First of all we recommend you to use the latest version AVS Video Converter 7. Windows Media Player and Sony Vegas Pro 9 support only certain file formats. So we would recommend you converting your FLV files to WMV format selecting Windows Media Video 9 High Quality profile with output settings. We have tested both programs and the files with such output settings were opened with no problem. As for AVS Output Video File you can select your own folder, which you like, using Browse button. You can also try converting to MPEG format. If it does not solve your issue, please specify what error you get opening file in media player and sony vegas pro, I'm sure we will find the solution.

Looking forward to hear about your results.

Best regards.

P.S. Refund issues are not discussed on the forum according to the forum rules. Please adress them directly to http://support.avs4you.com.

Hi there
I have AVS 7 already. Bought it just a few days ago. It worked at first but now it does not. I have re-downloaded the package and re-registered it but still it does not convert files into any playable format. When converted they are not sent to my download Library. I can only see them when I browse in AVS. They appear to be locked? When I try to use in Windows Media I get an error message telling me to seek web support.
I am running Windows 7 on a Dell Studio XPS with an i5-650 processor. With a 1Tb hard disc I think I have plenty of space.

regards

Have you tried my suggestion and converted to WMV with Windows Media Video 9 High Quality (see the screenshot attached)?

Which output folder is selected in AVS Video Converter for your output files?

Regards.

Hi there
Tried your suggestion and files still will not open. When I try to open and play the clip I get the error message "Windows Media Player encountered a problem" and a box appears to obtain web help. The converted files appear to be locked (they all have a little padlock logo against them) but how to unlock?

regards

If the files are locked to be played, it is not the problem in our software.

Here's how to remove the padlock icon from the folder so you can read/write:

Right click the folder and choose "properties".
Click the "security" tab and then click "edit" and then click "add" and then click "advanced"
Click "object types" and then tick "groups" and then click "ok" and then click "find now"
Scroll to the bottom of the list and then highlight "Users" and then click "ok". "ok"
Highlight "users" and tick the boxes for "read" and "write" (and any other permissions you want).
Click "ok" "ok"

I hope it helps.

Regards.
