Hello,

I have always saved videos from my Mini DV camcorder onto my computer and then saved then into
Avi/h264 format.
I use 25 fps 1500bit rate and the h264 codec

for some some reason the video editor does not want to save it properly.
No video is being encoded or audio.
Any ideas why this is?

this has just happened and I am annoyed.

Please make sure you are using the latest version of AVS Video Recorder (updated AVS Video Capture) to capture your videos.

Why do I need to update video recorder,
I have always used video capture.

One other curious thing.

In video editor, when i save edited project in h264 720x576 25fps
the encodeing doesnot engage. No processor noise etc. The preview screen stays blank
so this means no video is being saved.

The dv footage is about 6.47 mins
I did an experiment by cutting the video down and down
and find it I try to enocde the first 3.59 mins
then there is no issue/problems.
Could there be a slight corruption in the DV
that video editor detects and so does not encode.
Is h264 more sensitive than wmv as this still works.

Finally I did have some problem with capturing the dv video
using your video capture program 2 days ago.
I have decided to replace my firewire cable with a gold plated 30cm one.
the previous cable was about 1.5m and bog standard.
Does this affect the capturing process and cause problems.
Does dust affect thngs.

AVS Video Recorder is the new version of AVS Video Capture - we have changed the name of the program. AVS Video Recorder has just the same options and interface as AVS Video Capture, but improved functionality. Please still try capturing your videos with this new program. If the issue persists, do not hesitate to write back.

Also make sure that the new version of AVS Video Editor is installed.

Best regards

Things seem to be ok now

I did not have a problem to start with

When encoding onto wmv the preview comes up straight away

with mpeg h264 short clips show preview right away
but longer clips take time to show preview

this why I thought something was wrong

Simon

I have though bought a short 30cm firewire cable gold plated to help data transmission
