I have just down loaded the software and tried to copy some of my DVD's to my harddisk for viewing. However I only get the 2 channel audio option when the disk has a 5.1 sound track.

Is there anything that I missing because I have been able to ripp with full 5.1 using a previous ripping software.

At the moment it is possible to maintain all channels for audio when converting to WMV only.
It can be done by setting channels to All in Profile Editor of the program.

When I convert HD video files that have DD, AC3, 7.1, or 5.1 surround, the output is always in 2ch stereo. All the options are grayed out in the advanced tab. This is using 8.1, 8.2, and the trial of 8.3. Is it just me or does anyone else have the same issues? See the attached pic

It can be done by setting the number of channels in Audio Channels drop box, by clicking on the Advanced button.

While converting to BlueRay, DVD, M2TS and some other file formats, the Profile editor is not available to avoid the problem with the playback of the output file on home Blueray\DVD players and other devices the file format is used on.

I've been looking for a solution for getting my DVD library into my computer and streaming the movies to my PS3 for a while now. I came across AVS and went back and forth for a long time - finally purchasing it. For the most part I'm happy with the results, however I was disappointed to learn that when converting a DVD to MP4, I am limited to only mono or stereo channels and not Dolby Digital or DTS. The AAC audio format present within the MP4 file is capable of it, so why isn't the original audio format preserved?

From what I can tell, the ONLY format to support more than two channels of audio is the WMV format. I recall seeing a post from AVS stating that support for more than two audio channels on other formats was an issue. Well, I say get on with it! When's it coming? You've got a lot of good stuff here, make it perfect and get that license thing worked out.

Are you using one of the PS3 presets available in AVS Video Converter? If so, the audio should be present when you play the converted MP4 files on your PS3 - we have done the appropriate testing in this respect.

I am using the Video Converter Version 7.1.2.480
Using the PS3 default Profil "Sony PS3 - Normal HD Quality 480p Surrond" doesn`t work.
The MP4 file has no sound on my PS3.

At the moment only stereo is ok.

Where is the problem?
Can it be a problem by the MS OS Version?

I`ve read the free tools like "mkv2vob" are convert with surround sound.

Is there any new hope for AVS Tool?

- how do you play sound from your PS3? I mean do you connect it to TV? What Cables do you use? HDMI or RCA A/V?

Xhabu, not sure what your issue is but there is light at the end of the tunnel, 5.1 on a PS3 does work, I've been doing it for some time.

hello i was just wondering if u can add saround sound 5.1 or 7.1 to ur videos u create to dvd when i go into advance i can see channels but it not avaible but if i go into the devices click on consoles it will let me change it to 5.1 but i want to do that to dvd i have a samsung saround sound system 7.1 blue ray disc player but hen i create disc it only plays on the two front and sub speaker not the rest of them

Hi all, I am in need of an answer please.

I have recently purchased a Hard Drive Recorder with Digital receiver which does an awesome job of recording free-to-air digital broadcasts.
The result is a high quality capture, which then gets burnt / transferred to a DVD with AC3 audio.

My question relates to, when I put it on to my PC hard drive to convert to Divx / Avi, ALL the converters I use convert the audio to mp3.
I would like to know if there is a converter that will convert my DVD files with AC3 Audio.

P.S. I not overly fussy about the finished file size, as I would prefer quality.

P.S.S. And I know I could just keep them in original format, it's just editing on PC is what I am wanting to do.

I have noticed that AVS Converter does not keep the AC3 audio when converting a PAL format VOB to NTSC. Other converters on the market do maintain the AC3 audio. Does AVS intend to offer this ability in the future? This is a big drawback to your converter.
