Long time customer. Software has always been good to me. Lately is has been very laggy while editing certain videos. Ruled out memory, CPU, caching, disk usage etc. Was shocked to notice my Ethernet spikes each time it lags and only while it lags. Thought it was coincidence and ran the same test several times while nothing else was being used. Why is this software accessing the internet? All files are local to this SSD and cached in program. What purpose does this serve? How do I stop this?

No reply here or at the support form. How do I get an answer to this?

Why is this software accessing the internet?

AVS Video Editor uses the Internet in some cases:
1) for online activation/registration (when you press appropriate button);
2) for checking of updates (manually by user or automatically on app's start if option is checked);
3) for showing of CHM-Help online pages (when you open and read CHM Help file);
4) for opening of AVS4YOU site pages (when you press appropriate buttons or click menu commands).

So it's highly unlikely that our program actively uses the Internet in the background on your PC.
