I"m trying to load a file off a DVD for conversion. The video won't load; it just says "file format error." Every other file on the disc will load for editing, except this one. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Hello,

Please make sure you use the latest version of AVS Video Converter 8.1:
http://download.avs4you.net/distributives/AVSVideoConverter.exe

Note while converting DVD open the VIDEO_TS folder and select the VIDEO_TS.IFO file.

Best regards.

I am having the same problem, only since upgrading to latest AVS program versions. My .IFO files play fine on PowerDVD and older AVS versions on my laptop (same .IFO files). I am half way through VHS to DVD conversion and this is frustrating.

Please help

Hi. What kind of video format are you trying to work with? We might be able to help you out in checking if it's supported.

I'm havings a problem with converting VRO file to MPEG/AVI. I can copy the files to my HD (laptop), and I believe the file is OK. This file is video on TV.

I tried to use VRO file for conversion, but it gives me format error.

I was told by your support person, Eugenie, that I needed to use IFO file to convert. I have been searching around the solution, and I know this is for DVD conversion (for VOB file which I don't have). But I tried anyway.
When I try to load the IFO file on my HD, the converter recognizes it, and can open.
"Convert now!" button starts initializing, and starts conversion. Then conversion stops at sometimes 40++%, othertimes 60++%, and gives me an error code 7.

The support forum takes quite sometime, and doesn't get anywhere. It is quite frustrating. You might send me back to the support forum, anyway, but I thought to give it try here as well.

I see so many people having similar problems, and I don't see any solution anywhere....

What can I do now?

Hello

I am using Video Converter 8.3. Every time I try to load a VIDEO_TS.IFO to convert to mpg I get a pop up saying "file format error". This happens with all the VIDEO_TS.IFO files not just one.

The VOB files will load but not the IFO.

Hope you can help

I am trying to convert AVI files to the format used by my Sony HDR-PJ200.

I have tried varions Blu-Ray settings, such as m2ts and TS settings since video files taken on my HandyCam file properties show TS (AVCHD) for some of the files

After conversion I use Sony's Play Memories Home to export the converted file to the HandyCam and I continually receive "File Format is not supported"

Any clue what format should be used before I pay for my trial version?

I have tried all of the following formats, to no avail:

DV-AVI
WMV
MPEG-1
MPEG-2
TS (AVC)
M2TS

I am replying to my own post to update it to let everyone know that SONY cannot advise how to accomplish what I
am trying to do.

I advise users not to purchase SONY products until they can support their products.

Dear Roger,

Sorry for the delay in reply.

Pease try to convert your file to TS file with MPEG-2 video codec, 720x480 frame size - yo can select the settings by clicking on the Advanced button.

Inform about the result please.

To clarify the things in the my post above-I try to video edit .MOV files created on my Canon P&S Cam.
If I convert .AVI file to .MOV same thing happen - can't load the file in AVS video editor - file format error !!,or AVS video editor hangs.
Must use Task manager to terminate the AVS video editor service.
With AVS video converter no problems, only with AVS video editor - curent and old versions.
Thanks.

Dear gerboy,

To avoid the problem please try to reinstall AVS4YOU software following the instructions below:

1. Go Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Uninstall. Please make sure to click the "Check All" button.

2. Follow this link and download the utility that will automatically remove all AVS software components from your PC. Save the utility on your computer and launch it. It is highly recommended to leave the default option "Delete license key-files" checked.

3. Download the latest versions of the necessary programs from our website:
http://avs4you.com/downloads.aspx
Now install the software on your PC anew.

Try to use AVS Video Editor and inform about the result.

Best regards.

Thanks so much for the answer.I've done exactly everything, but the two problems remains - only when I'm working with. MOV files. Not a big problem, because I'm amateur photographer and first convert. MOV files and then use them as. AVI in the video editor.I inform you for the problemsto let You to know.
