Hi everyone,

when I encountered a problem with AVSVideoConverter 6 (Number 775 couldn't be found in AVScodecs.dll) I tried to use the repair-function. It failed with the following problems:

Couldn't open libraries:
AVSH264Codec.dll
AVSMPEGCodecs.dll

Both files are at C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVSMedia\ActiveX\
AVS264codec: Version 1.0.1.170, 499.712 Bytes
AVSMPEGCodecs: Version 1.0.1.270, 155.648 Bytes

a) I can't convert videos (avi to DVD or MPG; didn't try other combinations). What do I have to do to repair the converter?
b) What do I have to do to repair the two codec-dlls?

Any ideas? TIA

I usually do not talk to myself ;-) but I have to correct my last post: it now (after the failed repair) works fine for conversion avi to mpg.... Still DVD-output leads to an error...

Any hints?

Hello Gerd,

Please inform us about the version of the avscodecs.dll. For that, please follow:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVSMedia\ActiveX

In that folder find avscodecs.dll right click on it Properties>Version (see the attachment).

Best Regards

Hi Dam,

thanks for your reply.

I don't want to be funny but this tab isn't shown.

Anyway:
on Details tab there is no version information, no company and so on, just Type, Size and Date: simply blank *puzzled* which surprises me.... because all other DLL are shown properly.... Furthermore it seems to be the only file which name does not start with capital letters (for what this information is good, I don't know:-) )

And yes, I made sure to be in the right directory: C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVSMedia\ActiveX

Nevertheless the files dates 28. ‎Juni ‎2006, ‏‎12:29:28 and has (2.364.684 Bytes)

If you like I could send it....

I see. In any case you need the latest version of that .dll. So, please reinstall AVS Video Converter following this link, to make sure you have the latest version of the software.

Then try to repeat the conversion and inform us about the result.
Please also inform us what AVS programs you have also installed on your PC.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Dam,

yep, works like a charm :-) Thanks a lot.
Although the version now is 1.0.0.5, 4.315.590 Bytes, 13. ‎Mai ‎2008, ‏‎16:01:24
which is different from your picture. Do I still use the wrong codec?

What I found out is: I downloaded and installed the Video center 6 with the AVS Software Navigator. The setup-file stored was just 2 kB(!) big. Probably the navigator is pointing to a wrong download file?

Anyway, the next question you had was what I have installed: it is easier to say what I didn't install :-\

AVS Video Capture
AVS TV Box (due to the problems that occurred, which weren't solved after uninstall)
AVS iDevice Explorer
AVS Mobile Uploader

All is registered lifelong ( as you offered)

Thanks again, I will report when I find anything else ;-)

Hi Gerd,

Gerd_Ewald:
Do I still use the wrong codec?

You are using the right latest codec. And you installed the latest version of the Video Converter, as well as the codec.

Thank you for the provided information.

Best Regards.
