ok will try that

also I know you said you're no longer developing DVD Autor program - which to me if bugs can be overcome is your most interesting program - there's no Brose for Files Not Found at startup, program just abandons attempt to load project - is there any workaround to get the project opened even if without all file associations so I can rescue some of the work? Maybe by opening dvdprj file in text editor and editing some entries? [I've tried doing that looking for the relevant file names but guess you have them encoded somehow as I don't find them]. Thanks

Hello,

As the developement of AVS DVD Authoring was stopped we don't provide support for the software. Please note, file dvdprj is a project file and can be opened in AVS DVD Authoring only.

Best regards.

Every time I open AVS Video Editor, I get a message that the last backup failed and would I like to open the last successful backup. Then when my project is opened, a lot of my work is not there. I have my save set to every 3 minutes. I am running Windows Vista. Also AVS crashes a lot and closes every time I use it. Am I going over the maximum project length. My movie is so far 3 hours. I am using the same project to make several DVDs since it is the same movie. Would it help if I created a project for each DVD? I am doing all of my DVDs in the same project so I can add or edit things as I see fit in the previous parts of my movie. Please Help! I am losing a lot of work because of the crashes and the failed backups.

Can you manually locate the project file? Maybe you just moved it onto a different location?

Hey,

Why in gods' names would you make these programs target files using absolute paths?!?!?!?!?
Is there some practical necessity for this that is not obvious to an end user?

There's like a bazillion reasons why someone might need to shuffle files around, so the only thing that makes sense is to use relative paths. I've made a number of projects before I realized this...and in order to make sense of my files it is advantageous to revise my file structure...but doing that has broken every link to every file. This is nuts.

If there wasn't such a huge learning curve with every damn program, I'd jump ship because of this.

Please--PLEASE[!]--REDESIGN THESE PROGRAMS TO USE RELATIVE PATHS!!!!

Support of relative paths in .VEP-project for AVSVideoEditor is planned in future. There is partial support now: if all media files (video, audio, images) are placed near the .VEP project file, in the same directory, and have unique names. In that case, AVSVideoEditor on another PC will detect these media files and show them in opened project, but, unfortunately, caching will be unshown in Media Library.
