Where did the Duration, Audio, Transition, Color go? Nothing at all. (Screenshot NoSelection)

The avaliability of these buttons depends on what object is selected on Timeline (photo, video, audio, transition).

We would recommend you to use the latest version AVS Video Editor 5.1. You can find the information about what's new in it here.

I don't quite understand this answer. Refer to NoAudioSel screenshot. The timeline has photos and transitions. Also the entire clip has
Audio. While listening to the video I want to increase the volume but I don't see the AUDIO button. I had been using
this button to increase or decrease the volume. Are you saying because the selection was at the first photo, the AUDIO button
will not show? How, then, can I make the AUDIO button show up in this project so I can do what I want to do?

Photos and transition does not have audio in them, so if you select photo or a transition on Timeline, Audio button will not be avaliable. If you need to adjust audio of a certain video clip or audio track, you should select it on Timeline, the audio button will appear and you will be able to apply audio effects. I hope it clarifies.
