Hello, I'm new to video editing and I have done a search for this topic and found no answer.

I imported my .MOV file into Video Editor 4.2. It is 12 mins 22 secs. I understand how to trim the front and end of the file using "trim". However, when I try to do edits of individual scenes, I did a "scene detect" and it only comes back with one scene that is the entire full length (12+ mins) of the original .MOV file.

I'm sure this is my user error, can I please get some direction on what I'm doing wrong. Maybe, would I need to convert the file over to another format, then import it to the editor ? Any help from anyone is appreciated.

Hello,

Could you please specify what video you have in your mov file? Does it contain a lot of scenes actually?

Best regards.
