I'm having some issues with converting an AVI file into something that I can play on my PDA. Currently, I can play the AVI file on my computer using Windows Media Player 11, but it will not play in my PDA. So, I've bought the AVS Video converter to change it to a file that my PDA's player can read. Here's my problem...

When I start up the AVS Video Converter and browse to the file I want to convert I get a message stating that, "ACM video codec is not installed. Codec name: Windows Media Video 9"

I really don't understand that because I've always assumed that I have that codec (WMV 9) installed on my computer since I have Windows Media Player 11 which I think should've come with the appropriate codecs. Any help would be much appreciated.

In order to avoid the error, you need to install SMP4 codec on your PC. You can search the Internet for more information on free codec downloads.

I am also getting the same message but it is asking for QuickTime video codec. What puzzles me is, I had converted lots of movie files on the first day after I purchased it, without any problem. But on the next day, the problem showed up.

Please help......

Are you using the latest version of AVS Video Converter (6.2.5.334)? Most likely, these AVI files are encoded with the same codec, so please could you send us one of them. This would help us to analyse the problem. I'll send you the instruction on the support page.

Your file is encoded with Apple Intermediate Codec which is not supported by our software currently. We hope to add support for this codec in future.

I want to convert a .mov file to a file for dvd disk. But the program asks for an ACM codec that is not there.

It sounds like the same problem as others have described, but those messages were written somel months ago.

So maybe the version of the program that I have, which is 6.4.2.417, is updated to solve it?

Hello,

The full error message, which you receive, looks like this: "ACM codec is not installed. Codec name: ------" .

Could you please specify which codec mentioned in Codec name?

Regards.

I need to convert some MOV files to WMV but I get the error message: "ACM Video codec is not installed. Codec name: <blank>"

I've tried installing 2 different codec packs that contain ACM codecs, but neither have worked. Can you point me in the right direction for the correct codec?

I too have an ACM codec issue. The error I get when I try to drag a video into the top window for conversion is "ACM video codec is not installed. Codec name: hdv8"

I have been unable to figure out how to load AVS with that codec. Ant help from anyone would be greatly apreciated.

Try to do the following: unzip the file in the attachment and save it to your hard drive: C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVSMedia\ActiveX

Then follow Start - All programs - AVS4YOU - Repair and try to convert your files once again.
