I have Vista Home Premium and about once a week, get the "Quicktime CoDec not installed" pop-up, when I try to import files which use that CoDec. Even though I have a working Quicktime 7.6 Player installed, I have to uninstall it, then re-download it again from Apple and then re-start, to get AVS to import these files. A week or so later, the same thing happens.

I have tried to use the AVS Updater, but I'm informed that I first have to update the Updater, in order to update other programs. But, it won't update and keeps sending me around in circles. Trying to use this program is like going along with Alice to Wonderland.

The AVS Editor will not display 1080 video from the AVC format in 16:9. It shows and edits it only in 4:3.

I see no reason why software developers need to be furnished with generic examples of these formats and files. They are available for testing online, at most video-hosting websites. Go to Vimeo.com and have someone register for a free subscription and then search for the camera or camcorder models that use the formats in question.

The AVS Editor works very well for MOV and AVCHD, when it's actually working. Too bad you could develop such a good program and then seem unable to fix bugs. It's as though the original developers left and the entry-level apprentices are the only ones still steering the ship.

Thankyou for the reply. Yes you did make that point clear, however I also included in my original request for help message(http://forum.avs4you.com/posts.aspx?lng=ENG&t=610&p=2#4067) the follwing statement: "I have a copy of Video Converter 5.6 and which will import these "MOV" videos with no problems. So, currently if I wish to use my Royalty Free Video I have to convert them to another format using an older AVS Program." So does this mean you supported this Codec in a previous version but not now?

Our developers admit that the problem exists and are really disappointed that so many users get this error with QT files. As the bug has not been reproduced, the only way to fix it would be to rewrite the appropriate program component from scratch. Therefore they'd need some time to offer a solution. We'll do our best to correct the problem as soon as possible and I'll keep you informed on the news.

Once again sorry for the inconvenience.

Unfortunately, it is hard to tell you exactly. There is some time required in order to rewrite the program component.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem as well and I also have QuickTime installed and running OK long time ago.

The curious thing is that I manage to convert 2 or 3 MOV films into AVI yesterday, but now I'm always getting this same error message: 'QuickTime Video codec is not installed'.

Why am I getting this error message now, if I've already converted those 2 or 3 MOV videos yesterday?

By the way, is there any development since 22-06-2009?

Regards,

That's really strange... Something could have changed in your system, any additional drivers installed, software, couldn't it?

We have released a new version of AVS Video Converter, please download it from our website. If the error occurs with the new version, do not hesitate to write back.

Best regards

I downloaded the new release of Video Converter and although the blocking pop-up of "Quicktime CoDec Not Installed" disappeared, the AVC videos I edited and published with it on Video Editor, had several skipped frames every couple of seconds, making them useless. I had to do a System Restore Point procedure, to get the old AVS program back. It edits and publishes alright again, but how long the Quicktime CoDec problem will be prevented, is unknown. This is the second time I've had to do a system restore, to get an AVS editor that worked properly again, after downloading an update. Obviously, there's a glitch in the new release.

Have you followed the advice given in the following thread?

If yes, but the skipping frames issue still persists, please send us one of the files you are trying to edit in AVS Video Editor. The instruction has been sent to you on the support page.

Hi Nadin,

I'm having the exact same problem you guys describe... I'm using a Canon 7D recording 1080P at 30fps (29.97) in Quicktime MOV format.

Here's the output:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4OtDeUNk_0&feature=channel

I've tried using AVI, WMV, and MPEG, but they all produce "jerky" results.

Did you guys ever figure this out? Is there a codec or setting I need to use? I have the latest Quicktime codecs Is there a setting or something I need to set to fix this?

Thanks,
Tim

Hello Tim,

To solve the problem please save the attached AVSQuicktimefile3.dll in the directory C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVSMedia\ActiveX replacing the old one and run repair.exe file from this folder. Then try converting your MOV files again. Please inform us about the results.

Best regards.

Actually MP4 files can be encoded with different codecs. Could you open one of your files in AVS Video Converter, click Advanced > File Information and attach a screenshot of this window. We'll try to give you some recommendations.

Also you can try using AVS Media Player to play MP4 files, most popular MP4 codecs are supported by this player.
