I have just downloaded and am attempting to use the application to convert avi files to either mpg or wmv.

When I browse and select any avi file to place into the input file section, I immediately get a "memory" error.

I have Vista OS, 2gb RAM, 2 CPU, 4.8 Windows Experience Index rating.

Hi,

We are ready to solve the issue, but for that we need more information about the error.

So:
- try to play the files you want to convert in any player (e.g WMP) and inform us about the result
- try to use any other format as an input file
- send us a screenshot of the error message.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hello together,

i have the same Problem... It seems that it has to do with a german codepage (850). My Avi Videos is are imported from a digital camera. And when i try to import this file to the Converter or the video editor i get memory error ("Speicherfehler").

Is there a solution for this problem ?

greetings from germany

Have been running 5.5 under XP SP2 for a while and once I upgraded, I started getting this error when launching video converter. Other apps run fine. Any suggestions?

For Windows Vista

1. Start >Control Panel >Programs and features >> AVS Video Converter>>Uninstall

I did exactly as was suggested in the post, completely removed the files for AVS4U Video Converter. I have the exact same problem. It seems some of the files have this issue (AVI to MP4 Conversion-trying to play video from AVI on my Blackberry).

So far I have been unable to find an AVI file that does not give me the Error pop up w/

c:\Users\Brian\Videos\sample.avi
Memory error.

I tried re-installing several times following the instructions above. Any other ideas on how to fix this or what is causing the problem?

Unistalling then deleting the AVS folders as mention above worked great for me I no longer receive the memory error. However I did a registry search for all AVS folders and did delete a few other folders but I'm not sure this makes a difference. Just wanted to pass this along.

My OS was Vista.

If you get memory error when trying to import AVI files to AVS Video Converter or AVS Video Editor, first of all please try to completely uninstall the software from your PC. Then install the latest version of the program anew.

If this does not help, try saving the file attached to the following folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVSMedia\ActiveX
If you get a message whether you would like to replace/overwrite the existing file, please click on Yes.

After that run the Repair utility in order to register the .dll. Follow Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Repair

Please write back if the solution is helpful.

Best regards.

(The .dll has been deleted, as it has been included into the latest update. Update AVS files following Start > Programs > AVS4YOU > AVS Update Manager)

Oops, I meant to reply to nadin.
I have tried all the above fixes and nothing seems to work. Every once in a while I can convert one movie but then it goes right back to the memory error. The problem seems to be more with movies than half hour shows. any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Craig
