I am having the same issue using TDK regular and lightscribe + & - R. I am running AMD 3700, XP home, 4GB and 1TB and a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552L drive. The drive works with other burning software.

I have attached the log files. Any advise would be appreciated.

The .log files state that you used a defected disc for burning, its surface was damaged. So try using other discs, probably from another manufacturer. Make sure they are brand-new and not scratched.

I have done a great deal of disc creation using AVS with very variable results. DVDs tend to work best, but making audio CDs is a bit of a lottery. In my time I've tried every solution suggested, and I still cross my fingers every time I burn a disc.

I buy spindles of CDs up to 100. My suspicion is that the quality of these CDs is not uniform, so I've come to expect about 30% going in the garbage, because of course when the burn fails the CD is ruined - you only get one shot at each blank CD. Given that buying in bulk is cheap, it doesn't amount to a large financial problem. My annoyance stems from the time wasted - I've had a CD burn get to 96% complete and still fail. Sometimes I've just kept trying with the same files until it worked.

After much communication with AVS Help, I've still no idea what the root of the problem is. I do know that uninstalling/reinstalling makes no difference whatsoever. The logs they ask for kept mentioning Windows XP, even though I'm running Vista Businiess 64 bit. So, what I'm saying is that you'll probably be best to expect a certain failure rate, get used to it - be philosophical and calm, or give up. Your blood pressure will suffer otherwise.

Good luck!

As Normal I find no answer to the issue. Name any error that this software (and many other AVS software) has and the answer is always the same, try another brand of cd/dvd. No matter what brand you are using. Either that or "the disk is messed up"... never a solution to the problem. I paid for a software program that I could make DVD's to watch with, not spend hours searching thru forums and reinstalling/collecting logs/researching errors/and getting run arounds about.

I have the servo error when burning DVDs. I get it when I use burner that runs at 18.5x. I have second DVD burner that is 3x speed and it never fails
so it is not the blank disks.
My problem is how do I set the speed lower on the fast drive? It auto detects and only gives me one speed. I use it with other software and can
set the speed but I don't see how in Disk Creator.

This is a drawback of the current version that the burning speed cannot be selected among the ones your burner supports. Our developers will correct this in the next version of the program. That'd be great if you waited for the update. The deadline is not fixed yet, but we'll drop a note on the forum when the new version is released.

Best regards

Good Morning..
1 problem solved - I installed different DVD burner which software now lets me select speed. I set it at 12x and disks now complete OK.
1 new problem There are still some disks that have errors and don't play right. I select the verify option but then get another speed problem.
A full 4GB DVD takes 10 to 11 minutes to burn but the verify takes well over an hour.
Does anyone know how to verify a disk with other software?
Will simply copying from DVD to HDD (successfully) verify the dataa as good?

Could you please describe your actions step by step. Do you copy discs using AVS Disc Creator in the DVD copy mode? Make sure you are using the latest version of the program.

Which settings exactly do you select? What is the origin of your source DVDs, were they created with our software?
Which discs do you use for burning (type, manufacturer, speed)?

Hope to hear from you soon

I am using AVS Video editor version 4.2.1.167. By the way your download page shows latest version 4.2.1.166.
The source is an mpg2 file captured with a WINTv card.
DVD disk is Sony 16x.
I go strait from the create DVD in the editor to BURN to Disk.
I have also tried using AVS disk creator with the saved files from the editor and same result.
I have windows7 and a Icore processor with 12GB RAM so goes very fast if you let it.
The 4GB file takes 11 minutes to burn, I set the burner speed to 10.3x as this avoids the burn errors.
When the verify has finished the elapsed time is 75 minutes. This makes no sense.
It looks to me like the same problem as in the editor where it takes so long to write file to HDD. Post 8658 (Conversion takes to long).

Thx Dave

Try adjusting autoplay settings in Control Panel: apply not to perform any actions when DVD is inserted into the drive.
This might be helpful.

I'm having the same problem....using the AVS Burner (trying to burn VIDEO TS Files onto a Dual Layer DVD)
It takes around 7 minutes to start burning, I then get an error message..."track following servo failure"
I have downloaded the latest software.
I'm using the same dual layer DVD's that I have always used, without any previous problems,
regards,
Oddsox.

I find that to fix the servo error I had to slow down the burner.

I have an 18x burner and am using 16x disks but have to burn at 10x (single layer DVD) to get good results.

Unfortunately, we have not found a solution yet, but our developers are working on the problem and I'll write back as soon as there are news.

To: Oddsox

As suggested by eyemgr81, try choosing a lower burning speed. Also make sure that the discs you are using are not defected.

Kind regards
