Hi,

For some reason my .VEP file will not open.

This is extremely distressing as I have worked on the project for the last 3 days!

The error is: "can't load project. It can be missing or corrupted"

I must say that my faith in the product AVS Video Editor is badly shaken. It's such an easy to use and reasonably well featured program it would be a shame to dump it becaise of File formatting reliability issues.

I hope that someone can help fast because I have people waiting to see the project that I was working on

Hello,

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that you've tried editing .vep file in text editor or smth like that and have broken project structure. Please do not edit project file manually.

You can download corrected project from the attachments.

Best regards.

Thanks for helping me out with this. I am very grateful that you have been abble to recover the file.

yes, I did view the file in Wordpad but I didn't edit and don't remember saving it in Wordpad.

It would be useful to know why this file corrupted so that I can see if I can set in place plans to minimise the risk in the future

FYI, the only thing that I can think of that was out of the ordinary is that the computer was doing a lot of Windows Updates at the time that I last closed the file.

regards
Dean

Dear Dean,

We are glad that the problem has been solved. You are welcome:-)

Please do not open vep files in other programs besides AVS Video Editor, even WordPay.

Kind regards.

Hello, I am having that same problem aswell. The program has abnormally terminated several times and now it will not even open, giving me the message: "can't load project. It can be missing or corrupted". I have not opened it an anything else to work on it and I am extremely frustraited with it, as i have spent nearly 14 hours on it. I would be extremely thankful for some help fixing this quickly. Thank you very much.

Hello,

Please note that .vep it is not a video but a project. If you try to open it on your second computer you need to transfert all files you used in your project to your second computer.

When you try to open the project on your second computer the program will ask you to indicate the folder with files you used in your project.

Best regards.

Hi! I don't know how quickly you respond to error messages, but if someone is around within the next half hour I'd most appreciate this. My Video has mysteriously corrupted and I'm not sure why. I need this for tonight. If it can't be done, then that's 2 days down the drain of work, which is most unfortunate.

I hope the .VEP file can be fixed. I have not tampered or anything.

Hello,

Probably the problem occured because you have changed the location of the media files used in your project while working on it or renamed the files.
Click here to find guidelines on working with projects.
Unfortunately it is not possible to recover the project once it becomes corrupted.
We are sorry for the inconveniences.

Best regards

Thanks for your reply. I had not moved any files at all whilst editing.

My only thought was that it reached the 20 minute mark and the computer could not cope.

Hi buddy, any progress on this case yet? File corruption seems to have a wide variety of causes.
