I just saw what you were talking about, but when I tried to chase it, it disappeared into thin air. It was in desktop, and said App data, roaming. I tried to retrieve it and it vanished.

Try it this way:
copy the following line
C:\Users\hicksbryan9\AppData\Roaming\AVS4YOU\AVSDVDCopy\logs
open Windows Explorer and paste it into the address bar. Then press Enter on keyboards.

The required folder with .log files must open then.

I have converted AVI to dvd with the AVS Video Converter; using the process that the avs takes you through, everything was fine. The dvd will play in both dvd player and computer. The problem is; during play, useually 1/4 to 1/2 the way through the video, it stops working. Can someone let me know how to fix this. It has happened on all video's on all discs.

Does this happen both when you play the disc on your PC and in a player?
Could you follow to the directory on you hard disc the converted DVD has been saved to and try to play the movie from there. What is the result?

Looking forward to hearing from you

Nadin;
Yes this does happen when I play the dvd disc in the player and the pc.
The files contain 2 BUP, 2 IFO and 4 VOB. When I play the VOB 1, it did play all the way through. I started to play the other three and they did start out from the beginning, but I did not play them all the way through.
I do not believe that it is the dvd's, because I have burned other videos with other converters and they came out fine (with watermarks).

Please specify which discs you are using (type, manufacturer, speed), burning settings you have selected and the model of your burner. Have you tried using other discs?

Also please attach .log files - probably, the'll help to clear up the reason for the problem. They can be found in the following directory:
for Vista - C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\AVS4YOU\AVSVideoBurner\logs
for XP - C:\Documents and Settings\[User]\Application Data\AVS4YOU\AVSVideoBurner\logs\

Please zip them and attach here.

Thank you
Wes

The discs being used are “TDK, DVD-R, 8x”.
Originally I used the HQ setting on the AVS Converter and found that is not enough time on the DVD, (although it did convert the whole movie); so then I tried again at the GQ level of the AVS Converter and it seemed to work on 2 of my players and on the computers, but not my main player “Panasonic DVD, VHS player”. Don’t know if it is getting old, but it does still play original DVDs.
My Computer is a DELL XPS M1530 with the following;
Optiarc DVD+-RW AD-7640A ATA Device
I have not tried another brand of disc.

How can I bring out the burner itself from the AVS Converter. I would like to know how to burn the files already converted. I have tried with the burn on the windows media, and I have tried with Nero and Roxio, but I can not seem to get them to work on my DVD players. (Players say they can not read the type).

Nadin,
I figured out what the problem was. It is the speed in which I converted the files. All is good now, but I still have a question (seen previously) about getting the AVS Burner by itself and how to burn the existing coverted files.

It is some file named coredw_dw. The folder makes absolutely no sense when opened but I think after 30 min of struggling I figured out how to get the "APPDATA LOgs" sent.

That's great news that you have found the logs. However, could you please zip the file and re-attach it, as it hasn't been uploaded this way. Right-click it > Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder.

Also there should be another file in the same directory called datawriter.log. We need this file as well.

Nadin: I sent the file by burning it on a cd, and then attatched it. I will retry using your method however. Do you think it is possible that I get a refund, From clone dvd4, as I bought software from them and it does not work at all. I paid 70 dollars for it. I want to keep AVS, since I beleive somehow we can figure out what the problem is. It is strange, but it will glitch on me and chew up a disc, then all of a sudden work fine. I pray you can help me resolve my issue.
