I purchased AVS Digital Converter 6.2 for the sole function of converting dvr-ms from Windows
Media Centre (Vista) to a format that is watchable on my portable DVD player.

Installation and registration of Video Converter was fine. I tried converting to AVI and have found that I get a ‘stilted or jerky’ video playback (when played on host computer). Audio is fine.

I have also tried converting the same file to mpeg, dvd and ipod and I get the exact same result.

Can someone please assist me to get a satisfactory conversion for my purposes?

When converting DVR-MS files, there really might occur some problems. This is caused by the fact that, as a rule, these files are initially created not correctly due to signal instability during the recording process.

However, please could you upload the file to our FTP server for testing. Possibly the solution will be found though.

I can't convert the dvr-ms files with avs4you video convertor. I have to convert to mpeg first then use AVS4you. Is there a reson for this or am I doing something wrong? I am converting some of my favorite tv series so I can watch them on my IPOD Touch. This takes too long. Any suggestions

I'm using Converter Ver 6.2.5.333

My DVR-MS filea are out of sync even if I just enter "EDIT" and play the file.
So of course all conversions are out of sync too.

I have attached the "advanced" information one of the files.

Back in Oct 2007 I used a non-activated version of the converter which
was able to handle these files ok.
Using this new version on the original file now has the out-of-sync problem.

Any help?

Please try playing these files in different players. Are they out of sync? If yes, they must be incorrect initially and this is hardly to be corrected using our software. If not, please could you upload one of them to our FTP server for testing (the instruction has been sent to you on the support page).

I should have mentioned that the files do play ok using other players, Windows Media Player and the Media Center.

I have uploaded a file "david.doner.clip.dvr-ms".

I have audio sync problems using AVS4you when I convert DVR-MS files to iPod Touch formats. Until they fix the problem with thier software, I sugest using iPodifier. It is not as flashy as AVS4You, you can't edit out the commercials, and it does have its own glitches. But, the files convert in about half the time of the original and they are flawless. Plus it is free! When AVS4you gets this fixed I will think about dropping $60 on it. Until then. . . iPodifier it is.

Please save the file attached to the following folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVSMedia\ActiveX
If you are asked whether you would like to overwrite the existing .dll, click on Yes.

Then run the Repair utility in order to register the .dll:
1. Close AVS Video Converter and all other running programs and applications.
2. Next follow Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Repair.

Would be great if you informed us on the result

(The .dll has been deleted, as it has been included into the latest update. Update AVS files following Start > Programs > AVS4YOU > AVS Update Manager)

I am running 6.3.2.370 and my dvr-ms files have audio out of synch issues when I convert them to either AVI or MPEG.

MPEG profile is DVD PAL Compatible
AVI profile is Video: MPEG4 (DivX, Xvid)

I also experience the same issues as another poster, my DVR-MS playback looks fine in Media Center and Media Player but when I "Edit" the video the audio is out of synch.

If you need me to send the file so you can check it, let me know the FTP location, its a 2Gb file.

The file dvr-ms file has been uploaded. The easiest place to see the audio issue is around 7:30 into the clip where there are two people talking.

I also am having problems with the audio out of sync. The original file came from MCE in Windows 7. I right clicked on it and then used option built into Windows 7 to convert it to a .ms-dvr file. I have tried several output formats and all have the same problem- the audio is a couple seconds ahead of the video. This also is the case when you click on edit and play through there.

Has this been addressed yet?

I'm trying to convert a DVR-MS movie to an iPod format. Video Convertor 6.3 completes the conversion but the audio and video are many seconds out of sync. I've noticed that when I look at the file properties, in the advanced section, the video length is incorrect but the audio is correct. In the movie that I just converted it showed 1:58:14 for the video and 2:27:44 for the audio; the audio value is the correct one. If I look at the file properties in a Windows Explorer it says the video length is 2:27:44 and the source file plays back correctly in various Windows applications. I've tried a number of source files and have had the same problem with each. The source files were created by converting VOB files some time ago using VideoReDo.

I am using version 6.3.3.371 and I've tried updating the AVSWMVFile3.dll file as suggested in response to other issues but this made no difference.
