I need advice from someone well versed in the use of an EQ spectro-analyzer. How effective are they in revealing the exact frequencies of harsh, upper-mid overtones on vocals? Right now I locate those overtones the hard way, by doing sweeps with a narrow Q to find the offending frequency....and then I EQ the frequency out. Would a Spectro analyzer effectively highlight such an offending frequency?....or might it be misleading? For example, might the visual graph highlight 4k when the actual harsh overtones are closer to 5k? Am I better off doing it the old fashioned, time-intensive way?
