Can anyone tell me how many minutes of HD Video can be written to a normal DVD. I saw somewhere on the web that only 15mins of HD Video can be put onto a DVD. I am trying to decide what sort of Digital Video Cam to buy. Thanks for any help you can send my way.

It is hard to say how many minutes exactly. It basically depends on the bitrate the video is recorded with (the higher bitrate the larger file size and vice versa).

Note, if you would like to burn the DVD to play it in a DVD player, you will need to convert your HD videos either to DVD which will reduce the quality (DVD format does not support HD resolution) or to AVI HD DivX compatible profile (in case your player supports DivX playback). Both can be done using AVS Video Converter. By manipulating the output bitrate you can reduce the output file size to fit the movie onto a standard DVD.

Thanks for the information nadin. It was very helpful as I didn't really know much about it at all. Cheers Rex
