Good day! I recently built a new computer around a Ryzen 9 3900X CPU. I expected to take full-length movies and trim certain short scenes (15 seconds-two minutes) out of the movie much faster than my decade-old Core i7-920 CPU. However, I'm not seeing nearly the speed increases I expected.

The greatest area of disappointment is the amount of time it takes to cache the full movie. Encoding speed seems fine, although I haven't seen the massive speed gains I expected. In settings, I see there is an option for multi-core use, which I have selected, but I wonder how many cores the software uses. With both AMD and Intel releasing mainstream CPUs with a minimum of 8 cores this year, and the core count rising by the year, perhaps a feature of each future release is the ability to use more cores, if the software doesn't already provide for a large number of core use.

Any ideas for tweaking the software settings to improve my overall project editing time is greatly apprecaiated.

Cheers!
Howard
