Hi Folks,

I just upgraded from video converter 6 to 7 (latest version).

Now i am trying to convert the same movie i just converted with the old version 6 of the converter. While it still is not finished i already notice that it seems to not use multiple cores (its activated in the settings). CPU usage keeps hitting the 25% mark on this quad core system with Win XP Pro 64Bit.

Do you have any idea what might be causing this?

Cheers

- specify the format of the file you are trying to convert and its origin;
- specify to which format you convert and which presets you select;
- specify your PC configuration.
I'd recommend to completely remove the older version vefore new installation.

- input format is .mkv at 720p
- output is mpeg in just the standard config the converter 7 brings
- profile: DVD NTSC-kompatible - (MPEG-2, 4000 kbps, 720x480, 29.97 fps)
- pc config is in my profile

Uninstalling and installing again didnt change anything. The conversion takes about twice as long with the converter 7 compared to converter 6 with the same input/output config. The avsvideoconverterhost.exe keeps hitting 30% cpu usage on this quad core system. converter 6 went straight to 100% CPU and finished in about 120 min while converter 7 takes almost 3 hours.

The reason why i upgraded to converter 7 were some forums posts about performance improvements of the second conversion phase where the file is assembled on the hard disk after the actual conversion. The phase with low cpu usage at the end of the overall process...
