My tried my first HD video editing and I think I am in trouble. When I imported my video in Video 4, it would play for a second or two and then stutter(?). it would then pick up and play another segment and stop and then...

Am I looking at a laptop without enough memory? If so, what are the buffer memory requirements?

Hello,

It's recommended to edit HD video on computer with multi-core processor, 4gb or more Ram. Does your laptop fit this?

Also, could you please specify the format and origin of your HD files? What are their parameters, such as fps and bitrate?
