If I cut a piece of video out, I don't want the whole rest if the video to snap to where I just made the cut/delete. That screws up everything. How do I just leave an empty hole there? Like Sony Vegas/ Final cut pro, etc...

Unfortunately this feature is not available so far in AVS4YOU software, we will pass the issue over to our developers.
If you need to place another video (image) file instead of the deleted part of the video or you just put it between the two splitted video tracks, try using the Storyboard view where you will be able easily choose the position of the new video (image) being inserted (see the screenshot attached).
