Hello,
I'm an absolute newbie. So apologies for any vagueness/repetativeness!

I've converted some movies from mpeg4 to DPG using the AVS Vidoe converter 6 software (purchased this morning). The graphics/images are fine but the noise is hissing/screeching - no dialogue at all.

I'm viewing my files on a DSi and have previously used another converter and the movies play fine. Can you let me know what I need to do to fix the error.

My PC is windows XP
I've dowloaded the latest AVS Video Converter
The original format is Mpeg4 (mp4?)

Many thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to offer.

Wendy

Hello,

Could you please specify what exact preset with output settings you select in the Profile list of AVS Video Converter when convert to DPG?

Also, please try playing the resulted file on computer in video player software, for example AVS Media Player. Does it play with proper sound?

Regards.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I have downloaded DPGShow.exe and yes the audio is working fine on the movie.
The output profile is "DPG - highest available quality - (MPEG1, 384 kbps, 24 fps, 256 x 192)
The DSi is using Moonshell (i have no idea what it does, but it keeps my twin boys entertained watching their fav movies etc)

Thanks again, hoping to hear from you soon

Wendy,

Thanks for the details.

Could you please send us one of your DPG videos (created not by our software) which plays properly on your DSi? If the file is less than 10 mb, you can attach it to your message. If it's bigger, please upload it to our ftp server, the instructions will be sent to you personally via our support system. The file will help us to identify what exact settings requires your DSi for dpg files.

Thank you in advance.

Regards.

Hello Wendy,

It's ok.

Thank you very much for the file. However, there is something wrong with the attachment, I cannot download it. Could you please attach the file once again in zip archive?

Best regards.

Thanks, Wendy:-)

Our developers have tested the file and created another one with our program, which has similar parameters. We are asking you to download it and try playing on your Nintendo DSi. If it plays successfully, these output settings will be added to AVS Video Converter. Please inform us about the results.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Regards.

Hi Vlad,
The video works fine - it was one of the ones that played ok on my DS. Do you want to try with one of the Video's that has the hissing/distoration. I've attached Billie Jean as I can't play that one.

Thanks again for all your help

Cheers Wendy

Dear Wendy,

Thanks, but I'm not sure you undesrtood me correctly. Have you tried playing exactly this file 05 We Are the Champions_new_avs.zip, that I've attached in my previous post? We reconverted the file 05 We Are the Champions.dpg you given to us with AVS Video Converter. It's important to try playing exactly that 05 We Are the Champions_new_avs.zip file on your NIntendo DSi.

Kind regards.

That's good news. :-)

We are kindly asking you to test one more file if it plays properly on your DSi (see the attachments).

Also, please try converting your videos in AVS Video Converter to DPG selecting Normal Quality profiles and check if resulted files play with normal sound on your Nintendo DSI.

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter and are looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Vlad
Thanks again for your reply.

Sad news, the latest download "05 We Are the Champions_new_test.zip" has the hissing/squelching noise. (It's almost like the old cassette tapes, where somebody is holding their finger on the fast forward button or fast rewind button). There's nothing reconisble it's just "squelch"

The one i downloaded earlier "05 We Are the Champions_new_avs.zip" still plays fine.

Hope that helps in some way.

Hi Vlad,
Sorry for not reading your email completely.

I have tried using the "DPG Normal Quality - (MPEG1, 256kbps, 15fps, 256 x 144). This option appears twice in my drop down selection menu (no doubt there is a difference between the two, but i have no idea what), and i have tried converting using both but still get the squelching, also the picture is very "dithered/pixelated". Yuk :-)

The one i downloaded earlier "05 We Are the Champions_new_avs.zip" still plays fine, and the resolution is superb!!!

Thanks again for your help, i hope you get paid to do this sort of stuff!!!

cheers

Wendy,

Thanks again for all the information.

To avoid the problem please download the attached zip archive, unpack it and save dpgprofiles.xml in the directory C:\Program Files\AVS4YOU\AVSVideoConverter6\profiles. There is already exist dpgprofiles.xml, so you should rename the old file, for example dpgprofiles_1.xml , and then copy new one to this directory. Then launch AVS Video Converter and try converting your videos to dpg. Please inform us if the solution has helped.

Regards.

HI Vlad
Really appreciate your promptness!

I've downloaded the DPG profile (renamed the existing to OLD). Fired up the software and still no joy. I have tried converting using the "DPG High Quality" and also "DPG Normal Quality". Both are pixelated and squelching.

The one i downloaded earlier "05 We Are the Champions_new_avs.zip" still plays fine, and the resolution is superb!!! The resolution is far superior than what i can get using the "DPG High Quality". Also the file size on the DPG you sent me is about 11MB - all my attempted conversions average about 5MB. How is it that the file you sent me is PERFECT and mine look like something copied from an old VHS?

Thanks again, I appreicate your help. :-)

Cheers

Hi Vlad

Had some success - in a round about way.

I used AVS Video Converter to convert my files "To AVI"
Then used BatchDPG to convert from AVI to DPG - this works a treat, great graphics, great sound.

I did a test using AVS Video Convert to conert from AVI to DPG - but still having the same issue (pixalated images/hissing sound).

So, from here i'll just use AVS to convert to AVI and then use BatchDPG to convert to DPG. Ideally a single process would be nice, but I can cope with 2 steps, it's great that both applications can do "batch"

I don't know whether this additional info will help resolve the issue, but i'm more than happy to download any "new profiles" that you may develop to test with the DSi.

Cheers

Dear Wendy,

Thank you for keeping in touch.

We are looking further into this issue, we just need some time to work on a problem.

Just to confirm - were new dpgprofiles.xml loaded successfully? You can make sure of that checking the profiles. They should be now as following:

DPG - Highest Available Quality - (MPEG1,192 kbps, 15fps, 256x192)
DPG - Highest Available Quality - (MPEG1,192 kbps, 15fps, 256x144)
DPG - Normal Quality - (MPEG1, 160 kbps, 15fps, 256x192)
DPG - Normal Quality - (MPEG1, 160 kbps, 15fps, 256x144)
