got a home made DVD from friend
he wants me to edit and upload onto WebSite - no problem
but DVD has unusual folders and files (to me anyway)

Folder # 1 called VIDEO_RM (I GET NONE OF THESE USING MY HOME VIDEO CAMERA)
DVD_REC.USR 32KB
PVR_TEMP.USR 32KB
VIDEO_RM.BUP 32KB
VIDEO_RM.DAT 32KB
VIDEO_RM.IFO 32KB

Folder #2 called VIDEO_TS (these files I DO get from MY home video camera)
VIDEO_TS.BUP 12KB (hmmm... do not recall if I get this file)
VIDEO_TS.IFO 12KB
VIDEO_TS.VOB 64KB
VTS_01_0.VOB 80KB
VTS_01_1VOB 80KB
VTS_01_2VOB 1,044,480KB
VTS_01_3VOB 1,044,480KB
VTS_01_4VOB 1,044,480KB
VTS_01_5VOB 1,044,480KB

so, before I spend too much time testing
which files do I need to "fetch"
I would guess the one I bolded above?
and, if yes, then what is folder #1 used for?
btw
the dvd from friend does not play in my PC as is ??

Yes, to edit such a movie, you need to load the file you have bolded into AVS Video Converter or Editor.
Note the following website, there is some useful information for you.
