I have an evaluation copy of this product and want to burn a DVD before I buy it.

I've created and saved my project (there are just 2 short videos on it) and now want to build it. But half way through the build it says there has been a build error and to contact the support team. There's no clue as to what the error is. If I can successfully burn a DVD then I'll definitely register for the software as the authoring did exactly what I needed it to. I wonder why it wouldn't build? I have 57gb free on my hard drive so there is plenty of space.

I left a support message via the website but haven't heard anything yet, so thought I'd try here...

Hello,

Please precise at what moment the error occurrs?

For that, please make a screenshot of the the error, with Current Task seen on it and attach it to the forum.

Best Regards

By the way, the DVD contains two video files, both created using Windows movie maker, so they're WMA files. To author the DVD, I've added some background pictures (to the main selection menu and the chapter page) and have slightly changed the names of the buttons, but that's the only changes I've made.

I do have a file conversion program so can convert the videos to another format if you think that will make a difference?

I think you meant WMV. But according to the screenshot, the first file you use is in MP4. The error occurs at the conversion of that MP4 file.
To make sure, please try to built the project, but without this file. So, we will know whether that is a problem video. If yes, please send us the MP4 file to solve the issue.

Hope to hear from you soon

Oh dear, I removed the mp4 file (sorry about the confusion!) and it now displays the error immediately it starts building. See the screenshot...

Thanks!

I removed the other video file but it wouldn't build then, so I added a short .avi file that I had on my pc. It has now built successfully and I'm burning a DVD just to make sure everything works.

Why do you think there was the problem with the mp4 and wmv files? Shall I attach one for you to see?

I've finally got it to work. I've converted my mp4 and wmv files to avi's and then did the authoring using those. It's worked, and I'm burning the dvd now. :-D

Thanks for your help today. If you find out what the problem is with those other files I'd be interested to know. But perhaps I should get the AVS movie editing software instead of using Windows Movie Maker. I do find that frustrating as it does seem to crash quite often!

Thanks again,

Ali

Hi, I've paided for unlimited access to the AVS programs and recently downloaded AVS DVD Authoring but I keep encountering an error. Every time my project finishes building, an error keeps popping up. I've tried using different video files, different folders to save it in, and also uninstalling and re-installing but none of them work. Could you please tell me what I can do to fix this issue. Thank you.

Hello,

Today we released the new version of the AVS DVD Authoring (Version: 1.3.2.40). That is available on the AVS downloads page.
Please install the latest version of the AVS DVD Authoring and try to repeat the procedure.

Inform me about the result.

Best Regards

I started fresh with rev1.3.2.40. My system will always produce the error that I attached. Sometimes early sometimes late and sometimes with only 3 small video files and trying to create some menus. This is very frustrating as I purchased the product yesterday for a project and am pretty much dead in the water. Any thoughts?

System:
XP Pro SP3
1GB RAM
7GB+ free space
Dell Dimension D620 Laptop.

I did create a ticket with the support group yesterday afternoon and am just searching the forums while I await their response.

Hi,

Please first reinstall AVS DVD Authoring following this link (as there were some update) and try to repeat the procedure.

If the issue remains, please describe your actions step by step and precise the moment, when the error occurs.

Hope to hear from you soon.
