Hi.

I have a RAM file pointing to a stream on the internet, and a corresponding IVR file which was created by Real Media Player when I clicked on the "Download this Video" icon while watching it. I can play them both fine in RealPlayer. But I want to convert it to DVD or WMV format so I can copy it to a DVD for my parents to watch on their TV.

When I try to open the RAM file it says "File format error."

It doesn't even show the IVR file in the browse list, so apparently it doesn't recognise the extension.

Any ideas anyone? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. In case it doesn't show alread, I'm brand new to video conversion and so I may be missing a very simple step.

From Alexey Micheev, I've learned taht you don't support streaming files or .IVR files. I was able to download the RM source file by creating a webpage with an HTTP link to the RM file designated in the RAM file, then right-click on it and download the target. It seems to have worked, at the downloaded file was much bigger (173MB).

AVS Video Converter 6 recognized the file format and started to convert it, but part-way through it gave the following message:

THE INSTRUCTION AT "0x781450F4" REFERENCE MEMORY AT "0x00000000". THE MEMORY COULD NOT BE "WRITTEN".

I've attached a screen shot which shows the error message and the source and target folders.

I'll also upload the RM file to the same FTP server you told me earlier.

At the moment, you can download the attached AVSRMFile3.dll and place it following:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVSMedia\ActiveX

Hey, It worked! I converted the whole 63 min 173MB file from RM to MPEG4 in about 15 minutes.

You have shown stellar support for your software. I'm going to convert to a regsitered license today!

One final note. When closing the software after converting and burning, I got a windows crash analysis window that said your program had an error. It may have something to do with the new DLL, but I can't reproduce it by merely opening and closing the program. I'm reconverting the entire video to see if that will reproduce the issue for you.

As a final follow-up, reconverting the entire RM-->DVD did not reproduce the error, so I can't officially reproduce it. It's likely more related to the fact that I was working in combo between at-console and remote-console during the conversion, or something else like that.

In any event, mission accomplished and I once again thank you for your dilligence and follow-through.

I tried converting real media files to AVI (divX) using divX codec. File convertion happens successfully but for approx 50% of the rm files the audio is not hearable instead a creaky noise comes. It's puzzling that for certain rm files everything is OK i.e. video as well as audio but for certain files this audio problem is there although the configuration settings for converting all the files were same. Please find attached the screenshots of the configuration.

For one of the troubled files tried changing the destination format to DVD PAL long play. Same problem appears - Video OK - Audio - Not hearable (Creaky voice)

I have just downloaded the AVS video converter 6.2. I am trying to convert some Real files (downloaded from Youtube) to WMV. When attempting to do so i get an error message 'Quicktime video codec is not installed'..... Help!

......further to my last, I have tried re-installing Quicktime after having read a previous thread that suggested that to get the necessary codecs (whatever they are!), with no success.

The files I am trying to convert are .flv files and play fine with real player.

Thanks Dam. Infact now I could see some 40+ such rm files which have the same problem when converted to DivX. Anxious to know the approx timeframe for resolution so that accordingly I can replan my schedule to watch these divX on TV which offers more remote control functions and big screen comforts.......

I have the Video Editor...but apparently it doesnt even read *.rv....
