Hi there,
Last week I ran the AVS updater and let it automatically install the latest updates, which included Video Remaker and two others. Since then I've had significant performance problems with Video Converter (8.0.2.493), especially when using multi-threaded mode. Typically I am converting .TS files in to XviD 720p AVI files, though I first noticed the difference converting .TS to MPEG.
Prior to the update, 45 minutes of .TS was taking around 10 minutes to convert to MPEG with multi-threading enabled and using 8 cores (Windows 7, x64). After the update, the progress indicator reckoned the conversion should take 2 hours. I switched to single-threaded mode and the conversion was done in about 25 minutes. This is still far longer than before where single threaded mode is generally only about 10% - 15% slower.
This is even more pronounced with XviD AVI conversion. Ever since I first used AVS on this machine the conversion speed has been at approximately 2x, so a 100 minute TS file takes just under 50 minutes in multi-threaded mode and perhaps 55-60 minutes single threaded.
Now the conversion in multi-threaded mode is running at about 0.4x taking over 4 hours to do a 100 minute TS file. Most weirdly, changing to single-threaded mode the conversion runs at about 0.75x, bringing the conversion time down to about 2 hours.
Something appears to have been seriously changed in the common files. Hopefully this can be investigated and fixed soon.
